In total, there are three effective ways that open all the functions of the site.
Instagram is the most popular social network today.
Users can log into their account from a computer and mobile application.
Please note that the desktop version does not support all functions, as the developers are more focused on the mobile client for smartphones and tablets.
Functions of the computer version of the site:
- Search for people;
- Evaluation of publications;
- Viewing the news feed;
- Editing personal information;
- Notifications about photos you've been tagged in;
- View your posts.
As you can see, there is no function to add a photo. Also, from a computer, you will not be able to communicate with other users in direct.
The developers do not yet plan to add these features to the PC version. The last update only affected stories.
Now they can be viewed through the browser if you are authorized in your profile.
Method 1 - Publishing a photo through a browser
Most of them collect user data and as a result, you can lose your page due to hacking or spamming.
Changing the page code
The first method is suitable for use in any browser.
Its essence lies in the fact that you artificially change appearance pages for mobile version.
This will activate the add post button.
Follow instructions:
After selecting a picture, the editing function will be available to you.
Please note that the photo will open in full screen, so the quality may be poor.
This is due to the fact that the mobile version is not adapted for the browser, so the arrangement of tabs or pictures is inconvenient.
Once editing is complete and the photo is published, this problem will disappear.
Click on the "Filter" tab to add the effect you like and on "Edit" if you need to crop/rotate the photo. In the upper right corner, click on "Next":
In the new window, enter a signature and click on the "Publish" button.
This will take you to the page with your post.
Comments from other users and the number of likes will be displayed here.
Videos can be added in the same way.
Please note that you will not be able to post a collage of photos (several pictures in one post) through the browser.
This feature is only available on the official Instagram mobile app.
Chrome extension
The following method will only work in the Chrome browser.
To post your photos, you need to download the official Instagram extension.
Click on the "Install" button, then wait for the plugin to be added to your browser:
In the upper right corner of Chrome, you will find a list of all installed extensions.
Among them will be "Desktop for Instagram".
Plugin features:
Click on the extension icon in your browser and log in in a new window, and then reload the page.
Add your signature, geodata (optional) and publish the post.
The advantage of this method lies in its convenience. You do not have to constantly enable the mobile version of the site.
All elements of the Instagram page will have the usual size, so you will not encounter the scale problem, as in the first option with the developer tab.
Note that similar extensions can be found for other browsers, but the Chrome version supports the most mobile features and works flawlessly.
Method 2 - Client forWindows 10
If you are using the eighth or tenth version of the OS, go to the store and download the software.
Publishing photos through the application also has limitations, however, they can be bypassed.
Follow instructions:
- Move the pictures to the "Pictures" - "Camera Album" folder on your computer;
- Go to the Instagram app;
- Click on the camera icon in the top right corner. By default, the client allows you to take pictures on your computer's webcam and share them;
- In the window that opens, click on the image gallery icon;
- The Camera Album folder opens. It stores all the pictures you have taken with the webcam, as well as recently moved photos. Click on the desired file and upload it to the program;
- Edit the photo using the buttons in the upper right corner of the screen and click on "Save".
In addition to the option of publishing and editing pictures, the Instagram desktop client for Windows works with Direct.
To go to the list of your dialogs, just press the corresponding button in the upper right corner of the screen.
To start a chat with another user, enter his nickname in the search field.
A dialog box will then open where you can send a message, emoji, photo, or document.
Method 3 - Through the mobile app
The third way is to use the mobile app, but you don't need a smartphone or tablet for it.
All programs for Android OS can be installed on Windows computer using an emulator - software for creating a mobile OS environment.
Open Nox App Player after installation is complete. To download Instagram go to Play market, which is available in the emulator.
You can also download the APK version of the client to your computer and install it.
The program will prompt you to sign in to your Google account. This is necessary in order to download and install programs.
After installing Instagram, enter your username and password to go to your page.
You can upload a photo using a webcam or internal memory. Everything is like in a regular smartphone.
Only while the emulator has no internal memory.
To add to system folder the desired photos, in Windows open the “This PC” shortcut and use the search on the C drive to find the root folder of the Nox App Player program.
It has a Nox_share\Image directory. You need to add images here.
