What will you do if you need to transfer a file via the Internet? There are several ways to solve the problem:

  • Send a file by email, for example, to a Gmail or Mail.ru mailbox
  • Use file sharing, for example, such as

However, by the above methods, it is possible to transfer relatively not large files, up to 2 gigabytes. But what if you need to send to a friend over the network, for example, a movie in good quality, the size of which is much larger?

With a file size of up to 10Gb, you can use, up to 50Gb -. But what if the file weighs 70, 100, 150 or more Gb? For example, a feature film in or a huge selection of photos and videos from a family vacation in Egypt?

The takeafile.com online service allows you to easily transfer large files over the Internet. At the same time, no registrations are required and everything is absolutely free!

There are two ways to transfer files to takeafile:

1. CloudUpload... You send the file to the server, and a link is automatically generated to download it. You can copy and send this link to your friend.

This method is not much different from the principle of operation of ordinary file hosting services, and in this way you can transfer a maximum of 512 MB, which is really sad. The second way is much more interesting.

2. LiveTransfer... When this method is selected, a direct connection is established between the computers of the users (the one who sends and the one who receives the file), and the file is transferred from one machine to another, bypassing any intermediate links.

And most importantly, you can send in this way arbitrarily large files, at least 500 gigabytes, and at the same time there are no restrictions on the download speed that are usually set by cloud storage!

Well, isn't it a miracle? :) See how it works in practice:

Important note: with Live Transfer, you cannot close the browser until the recipient has finished downloading the file.

I will repeat the algorithm for working with the Takeafile service once again:

  1. Drag the file to the main page of the service in the browser
  2. Choose one of the methods: Cloud Upload (up to 512Mb) or Live Transfer (up to 500Gb)
  3. Copy the generated link and send it to your friend
  4. After the file is downloaded by the recipient, a corresponding notification will be displayed in your browser.
What about the anonymity and security of the transmitted data? All data is transmitted in encrypted form and can only be viewed by those who know the link. Even if suddenly some rabid hacker cunningly intercepts your file, he will not be able to open it, since the decryption key is contained in the link.

Currently, Takeafile only operates in Chrome browsers and Firefox, developers promise to implement support for other browsers in the near future.

An excellent online service that every Internet user must bookmark! Recommend it to your friends on social networks and of course write your comments!

People often ask me: - "How to send a file by e-mail?" or vice versa, I ask someone to send me this or that file, and the person I ask has no idea how to do this ...
Therefore, I decided to write this guide.
First, let's prepare a file that we will send by mail.
For this, the file can be sent unpacked, i.e. as it is, just attach the file to the letter, as an attachment, or packed into an archive ...
If our file is small, then it can be sent without "Archiving", i.e. without compression...

If the file is large, then it is better to pack it in "Archive", thanks to this, the file can become much smaller, which will speed up the transfer at times.
Also, I must say that today, some mail services do not allow sending executable files and many program library files. In the case of Windows, the executable is .EXE - i.e. file-program, and DLL - file-libraries (libraries can be not only dll files, but I will not list all of them)... This approach of the postal services is understandable, this is due to the fact that by transferring such files, the latter can simply turn out to be viruses, trojans and various similar nasty things ... Therefore, mail servers, in order to avoid problems during the transmission of letters, simply cut off attached files that they find it suspicious. This also applies to script files and files containing sets of commands, such as. BAT and. CMD ...
Therefore, such files should be packed into an archive, and not just packed, but packed and closed with a password!
And yet, a few words about packing and archiving files ... Image files, such as .JPG, .PNG, are almost not compressed during archiving, they can be packed into an archive only if you want to transfer a lot of files in a letter, but adding all of them one by one is very "messy" ... Text files, on the contrary, are compressed when packed into an archive very much, it happens that after compression, the archive has about 30% of the original file size. In this case, it is better to pack the files, of course. the size will be significantly reduced.
This means that we have figured out what to pack files into an archive, i.e. archive, you should:
- If we want to transfer a lot of files, after packing, we will need to add only one file, and not 20 or 30 for example ...
- If we want to transfer text files, because when packing, the size is significantly reduced, and of course, if we have a lot of these files, then it is much easier to add one file to the letter ...
- If we want to transfer a program file, etc. - the file (s) need to be archived so that the mail server does not cut them ...
Also, we know that pictures like .JPG, .PNG should be archived only if we want to transfer several files, because these files almost do not lose in size when packed ...
Now let's talk about everything in order ...
How to zip files:

For example, I have prepared several text files that have a total size of 3.73 megabytes.
To pack files into an archive, we must have an archiver installed. Today the most common archiver is WinRar http://www.rarlab.com/) one drawback of this program, it is paid.
And the program 7-zip(the official website of the program: http://www.7-zip.org/) this archiver is free, but less widespread.
Also, today, almost all operating systems support archive files. ZIP - this means, if you send a ZIP archive to a person, he can simply open it.
Now let's add the files to the archive. To do this, select the required group of files:

We click on them with the second (right) mouse button and select the item "Add to archive" (if you have installed any other archiver, the name of the menu item may differ).

We will open the Add files to archive window:

In which we need to configure some parameters:
1 - Set the file name (for transferring files over the Internet, it is better to set names in Latin letters, so that there are no problems with encodings, etc.)
2 - Select the type of archive (we have already talked about this)
3 - Set the compression level (the stronger the compression, the smaller our archive file will be)
4 - Press the button OK to create an archive.
Here is the dialog of the archiver program 7-zip:

As you can see in the figure, almost everything is the same, well, yes, it's called a little differently, but in principle, it's elementary to figure it out ...
After packing, we have an archive file, which is only 31.6 kilobytes in size, out of the former 3.73 megabytes!

Now, how to set a password for the archive:
WinRar- To create a password-protected archive, in the archive creation window, go to the tab "Additionally" and press the button "Set password".

We will open a dialog for setting a password:

In which both fields should be filled, i.e. the field for the password and the field for confirming the password and press the button OK.
7-zip- To create a password-protected archive, in the archive creation window, fill in two fields, of course the password and password confirmation:

After that, we carry out all the related settings, as described above.
Well, actually everything, we figured out the packaging, let's now proceed directly to sending the file by mail ...
Adding a file to a letter.
Now, we need to deal with some things ... In what way, we use mail - through some mail program or through web interface, i.e. going through the browser to the mail server website, enter your data there, etc. (the browser is the program with which you browse the Internet)
If you are using Web Interface then go to your mail account ...
Compose a new letter. (for example, I will show how this is done on servers google, mail.ru and yandex)
And after you write the text of the letter, if of course you need it, press:

Link "Attach file"- v google

Button "Attach file"- v mail.ru

Button "Attach file"- v yandex

After that, you will see a file selection dialog:

In which you need to: - specify the path to the file, i.e. go to the folder in which you store files for sending, or in which you created the archive. Select the desired file and click on the button Open.
After that, the file will be uploaded to the mail server and added to the letter:

If you need to add any more files, then click again on the button or link "Attach a file", well, in fact, we do everything that was described above ...

Actually that's all, after creating a letter and adding an attached file, click on the send button and send the letter ...
Now let's look at how to do all this through mailers. For example, I will talk about the two most common mail programs, these are The Bat! and Microsoft Outlook.
First about Microsoft Outlook.
As in the case with the Web Interface, we create a new letter, enter the addressee, subject, text of the letter ...

Attach file

(in older versions, this button is in a different place)

In the same way, you can add a few more files if needed ...
Now about "The Bat!"
As in all previous cases, we create a new letter, enter the addressee, subject, text of the letter ...
To add a file, press the button Attach file

After which we will have an attachment file:

In the same way, you can add a few more files if needed ...
That's all, to send a letter, we press the send button ...
Using this guide, you will be able to transfer files through most Mail Servers using their Web Interface and Most Mail Programs ... almost everywhere, these functions are very similar, almost always, have the same name and are located in the expected places.
P.S.
In many mail programs, at the time of creating a letter, you can add attachments simply by dragging and dropping files into the new letter editing window (as from folder to folder).

Sometimes it becomes necessary to transfer large amounts of information between users. Yes, for this it is most convenient to use external media, for example, a USB flash drive, since in this case the process of transferring a file of a couple of gigabytes will take only a few minutes. But what if you don't have a flash drive at hand? Is there a way to transfer big data over the Internet.

Features of data transmission via the Internet

First of all, it is worthwhile to understand that the process in most cases will take longer than if the transfer was performed via a third-party carrier (the only exceptions are users with super-fast Internet). Also, do not forget that the transmission speed will directly depend on the speed of the Internet.

Method 1: Google Drive

It is one of the most famous and widespread cloud services in the world that allows you to exchange and store files in the "cloud". Unfortunately, users of a free subscription are limited to only 15 gigabytes of server space, therefore, it will not work to send a larger file using this method.

  1. Go to the service website. To start using it, you need to be registered with Google, that is, have mailbox on Gmail. In this case, the registration process will not be considered.
  2. Click on the button "Create", which is located in the upper left part of the window.

  3. From the context menu, select the option "Upload file" or "Upload folder" depending on your needs.

  4. V "Explorer" select the desired item and click on "Download".

  5. Wait for the download to finish. It depends on the file size and internet speed for a long time.
  6. Now select the downloaded file or folder by right clicking on it.
  7. V context menu click on item "Enable link access" or "Shared access"... Their main differences:
    • "Access by link" makes it possible to grant access to any person to a file / folder using the generated link. This person may not have a Google account, but at the same time he will be able to download the file to his device;
    • "Shared access"... Here you can select the person you want to share the file with by entering their Gmail address. Except for you and this person, no one will have access to the file / folder. Access rights can be set separately, for example, prohibit this person from making any changes, allowing only the download.

  8. After following the link, you only need to click on the button "Download" and select the directory on your computer where the file will be downloaded.

Method 2: Yandex Disk

In many ways it is similar to Google Drive, with certain exceptions, for example, here the user is given only 10 gigabytes for free use. Also, the interface between the two services is very different. The main feature of Yandex Disk is the presence of a special application that helps to speed up the download of large files (larger than 2 GB) on virtual disk... However, you can download through the web interface of the service without downloading any third-party programs.

To use Yandex Disk, you need to register on Yandex services. To do this, as in the case of Google, you just need to set up mail on Yandex Mail. We will not dwell on the registration process within the framework of these instructions.

Let's take a look at how to upload a file to Disk using a dedicated application:

You can also upload files directly from the Yandex Disk web interface without downloading any programs. Let's see how to do it:

Now, regardless of the method you used to upload the files to Disk, you need to send them to another user. This can be done as follows:

Method 3: Mail

Some mail services can also be used as a kind of cloud storage, but they will be inferior to them in functionality, but this is not a hindrance to accomplish the task discussed in this article. Not all services can work correctly with sending large files, so let's take Google's Gmail as an example.

The instruction looks like this:

Method 4: uTorrent

With the help of uTorrent, you can download not only pirated content from the Internet, but also transfer files between users over the Internet. Fortunately, there is no need to register anywhere, and the transmission speed of this method is quite high. The only condition is that this torrent client must be installed on two computers, the other most likely will not work.

Let's take a look at how to transfer large files using uTorrent:

  1. Run the program and also open "Conductor".
  2. Here you need to select the file that you want to transfer to another user or to yourself, but just to another computer. Drag this file to the workspace of the torrent track.

  3. A window will appear where you are asked to set a link for the file. By default, this will be the file name. If it is in Cyrillic, then it is recommended to change the name to Latin characters. To complete work with the link, click on the button "Get Link".

  4. Depending on the size of the file, creating the distribution may take some time. Upon expiration, you will receive a notification about the successful creation of the distribution. Close this window using the cross icon.

  5. In the section with distributions, you will see your file, where instead of the loading indicator there will be a red bar with the inscription "Seeding" or "Heard"... Right-click on it and select the option from the context menu "Copy Magnet-URL".

  6. You need to send this address to the person who should receive the file. You can also send it to yourself.

In this instruction, you just created a distribution for your file, but you still need to download it using the received Magnet address:

Method 5: TeamViewer

TeamViewer is used to remote control another user's computer, but with its help also send files between computers. To use this option, you will need to install the program on both your computer and the computer receiving the file.

The instructions for this method are as follows:

Method 6: "Home group"

In this case, it means creating something similar to a local network. Both computers must be connected to the same network (ideally a router). "Home group"- these are several computers running Windows, which are connected to each other in a network. The user can transfer files between them using an Internet connection, plus there is the possibility of transferring data offline.

Let's take a look at how this is done:

  1. Initially, you need to open the element itself "Home group"... The easiest way to do this is through the system search bar, which is invoked in Windows 10 by clicking on the magnifying glass icon in "Taskbars".
  2. In the search bar enter "Home group" and choose the first option that comes across.
  3. An introductory window will open. If you do not have any "home groups", then you will be prompted to create one. Click on the button "Create a home group".

  4. In the next window, just click on "Further"... This is just introductory information.

  5. Now you need to select the items that will be available to the participants "Home group"... They can be left by default or some can be disabled if any unauthorized users will use the local network. When done with the settings, click "Further".

  6. The process of obtaining all permits will begin. It is necessary that at this time all computers in local network... As a rule, this process does not take much time.
  7. A window with a password will open, which will need to be used to make changes to the composition or any important settings itself "Home group"... It is recommended to save it somewhere. You can also print it using a special button.

  8. Now open "Conductor"... Here you can see "Home group" on the left side of the window. Navigate to the folder containing the folder or file that you want to send to the computer included in "Home group".

  9. Right-click on them and select the item from the context menu Homegroup (view and edit).

As you can see, there are many ways to transfer large files and folders over the Internet. In fact, there are many more services that allow you to perform this operation however, they are very similar to the options already discussed.

In the modern electronic world, where letters on paper and parcels in cardboard boxes are out of fashion, the question of how to send large files by mail remains relevant. Even with the very rapid progress of computer technology, transferring large volumes is sometimes difficult. Although email has some disadvantages, it transfers data much faster.

Modern restrictions on the size of the transferred materials do not make it possible to send more than 25 MB of information in one file. Therefore, before sending large files by mail, read some of the nuances that will help you simplify this process.

First way: you can send files in parts. For this, the necessary data should be archived. However, this method may seem too long. For archiving, you can use any standard program (WinRAR, WinZip). In the process of splitting a file, you will have to specify certain settings: the size of the pieces, where they are saved.

Before sending large files by mail, you need to know how to split the archive into parts. The best way to do this is with Total Commander. Subsequently, the sent data on another computer is again collected into one file. First, select the folder in which the split archive will be stored. Now on the top panel, look for the word "File", and then "Split files ...". By clicking on this command, you will see how the process of splitting the archive will begin in the window.

You can send a large file in another way. To do this, the data must be uploaded to any service or file hosting service and get a link to them. First, you need to find a site where you could upload information and get access to it. Moreover, on such services it is not necessary to pay for the downloaded data. In this case, you do not need to register on the exchanger. After downloading you will receive a link to your file, which you can send by mail.

However, the second transmission method also has its drawbacks. For example, on a file hosting service, you need to wait a while and enter a captcha in order to download a file. Moreover, on these sites you can always find a huge amount of already boring advertising, and it is not always of decent content.

Before the size, it is advisable to learn about other services on which you can store your data. These are the so-called "cloud storage". The most popular and frequently used service is Google Drive. They work on the same principle as file sharing, only they are more convenient to use, and their interface is much more pleasant. Moreover, there is no advertising here. The only drawback of such a system is that it requires registration.

Now you know how to send large files by mail. The presented methods are very simple, straightforward and convenient. So now you can easily transfer any amount of data from the comfort of your home. Good luck to you!

Instructions

Open Windows Explorer by double-clicking the My Computer shortcut on your desktop or by pressing the WIN + E keyboard shortcut. Find the folder you want to send and right-click it. In the context menu, select the command for packing into archive. Depending on the installed archiver, the wording of this command may differ, but the meaning will be the same. For example, if you are using WinRAR, and "Texts", then the packaging in the context menu will be formulated as follows: "Add to archive Texts.rar". If you select this particular line in the menu, and not "Add to archive", then WinRAR will create the Texts.rar file without additional questions and place the folder along with the contents into it.

Make sure the size of the resulting archive is not too large to be sent by e-mail. Almost all public web services have the size of the files they send. If your packed folder does not fit into the specified limit, then the archive must be split into several parts. If you are using WinRAR, then the rar file can be converted into a multivolume archive. To do this, open it with a double click, press the combination ALT keys+ Q and click the Compress button. In the lower left corner of the compression settings window there is a field with the name "Divide into volumes in size (in bytes)" - specify in it the limit value for the weight of each individual. For example, for the 15 megabyte limit, enter "15 m" (without the quotes). Then press the "OK" button and in the next window the same button. The archiver will repack your folder into several files, and delete the original one and present a report on the work done. Close both remaining open WinRAR windows - the archive is ready to be sent.

Create a letter in which you will send the zipped folder. If you are using the mail client program installed on your computer, then to attach prepared files to the letter, it is enough to select them in the explorer and drag them onto the text of the letter with the mouse. And when using any of the online mail services (Gmail.com, Mail.ru, etc.), find a link in its interface for attaching attachments. For example, in the Gmail service, it is placed under the email subject field and has a paperclip icon with the inscription "Attach a file". Click it, click the "Browse" button, find the first of the archive files and click the "Open" button. If there is more than one file, then use the next line of the file attachment - it will appear below with the inscription "Attach another file".
When all parts of the archive are attached to the letter, send it to the addressee, not forgetting to write the accompanying text and the subject of the message.
